BONE GRAFTING/REGENERATIVE PROCEDURES
Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) is a periodontal treatment aimed at restoring lost bone and tissue due to periodontal disease. In cases of significant bone loss, a barrier membrane is placed between the gum and bone to prevent soft tissue from invading the healing space, allowing bone cells to regenerate undisturbed. This membrane acts as a scaffold, promoting the growth of new bone while preventing the infiltration of unwanted tissues.
In more advanced cases, Dr. Pastagia uses graft materials and/or growth factors to enhance bone regeneration. GTR facilitates the body's natural healing processes, encouraging the regeneration of periodontal structures and promoting improved attachment of the gum to the teeth. This procedure is a valuable tool in periodontal therapy, particularly in cases where traditional treatments alone may not be sufficient to address advanced bone loss. Regular follow-up and maintenance are essential for long-term success.
